The new Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) trains will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

India's first Regional Rail

This is India’s first Regional Rail. It has a speed of 180 km/hr and an operational speed of 160 km/ hr. Its first corridor is 82 km long and under construction between Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut.

Trains to operate between Sahibabad & Duhai Depot

Trains will extend from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, covering five stations - Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

17km section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut

The trains will cover a 17 km section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS. The a rail-based high-speed, high-frequency, regional commute transit system will connect metropolitan and big cities, towns and urban nodes across NCR.

Estimated to reduce 2,50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide

The new train service will take more than one lakh private vehicles off of the road. It is also estimated to reduce ~2,50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide in vehicular emissions per year.

​To encourage the use of public transport, RRTS stations are being seamlessly integrated with the existing modes of public transport like bus stands, airports, metro stations, railway stations etc.
