GUWAHATI: The mountaineers of the northeast, who were located in different base camps, are learnt to be safe in Nepal .
Among others three-time Everest conqueror, Anshu Jamshenpa of Arunachal Pradesh, an 11 member team of Assam led by Manash Baruah and another climber from Assam's Sivasagar district – Naba Phukan all are safe.
Anshu’s husband could connect with her and informed that the team was safe and at Gorakchep Camp enroute to the Everest base camp.
“This is to inform you all that Anshu Jamsenpa and her team are safe and sound. They are at Gorakchep Camp enroute to Everest Base Camp. She informed me that there has been some damages and casualties but her team members are all fine. Thank you all for the prayers for her teams’ safety,” wrote Tsering Wange, Anshu’s husband and the president of the Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association (AMSA), on Facebook.
Assam Mountaineering Association’s president Satyen Sarma said that the 11 member team is safe after having a talk with the team members over satellite phone.
The team members also include senior journalist Pranay Bordoloi among others. Another climber from Sivasagar district Naba Phukan who could not be traced since Saturday, informed his family of his safety.
