Gurdwaras have played a large role in the life of this honorary Sikh

I’m an honorary Sikh, and proud to be one. My honorary Sikhism is derived from Bunny being one-quarter Sikh from the side of her maternal grandfather, whose family was directly descended from Guru Angad Dev, the second of the ten Sikh Gurus of the eclectic faith founded by Guru Nanak.

It was a common practice in those days for Hindu and Sikh families to form matrimonial alliances, and Bunny’s mother was the result of such a union. As a child, Bunny would regularly accompany her grandmother to the gurdwara in Bhawanipur, Calcutta, the kadha prasad of halwa generously given to all who came there, regardless of caste or creed, adding relish to these devotional visits.
