‘My strength’: Hemant Soren celebrates historic Jharkhand election victory with sons

NEW DELHI: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren took to social media to share a photo with his family after a resounding victory in the assembly elections.

Soren on Saturday posted heartwarming photos of himself spending quality time with his two sons, captioning the post “Meri Shakti” (My Strength).

The photos, which show the chief minister embracing his sons, quickly went viral, garnering widespread engagement on X.


Congratulating Soren in a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I thank the people of Jharkhand for their support towards us. We will always be at the forefront of raising people’s issues and working for the state. I also congratulate the JMM-led alliance for their performance in the state. @HemantSorenJMM"

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance, which includes the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation (CPI-ML), secured a dominant lead in 56 of the 81 seats in the state assembly. This performance cements a second consecutive term for the coalition under Soren’s leadership.

The Election Commission’s data showed the BJP-led NDA struggling, with leads in just 23 seats. Despite an aggressive campaign, the BJP's narrative failed to resonate with voters.

The JMM’s focus on tribal issues and the sympathy wave following Soren’s arrest earlier this year appeared to strike a chord with the electorate.
