Murmu dedicates 49 power projects in 8 Jammu districts

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor,

Girish Chandra Murmu

on Monday e-inaugurated 49 augmented power projects worth Rs 81 crore in eight districts of Jammu division.

Murmu also dedicated to public the first ever underground cabling work at Patnitop tourist spot, from Jammu Raj Bhavan through video conferencing.


Principal secretary of power development department, Rohit Kansal, said various different power projects were executed under several central schemes like

DDUGJY

,

IPDS

,

PMDP Urban

, and PMDP Rural, adding that over 30,000 consumers, 300 industries, and 200 hotels would benefit from this capacity building.

He said the projects primarily included capacity addition at 33/11 KV level by way of construction of new 33/11 KV sub-stations, capacity enhancement of existing 33/11 KV sub-stations either by way of installation of additional power transformers or by augmentation of existing power transformer.

The underground cabling work was executed at a cost of Rs 12.58 crore under the PMDP Rural project, which included augmentation of the existing 33/11 KV sub-station at Patnitop, from 3.15 to 6.3 MVA thereby increasing its capacity by 3.15 MVA.

Kansal said these measures would provide reliable power supply to consumers during all seasons, especially in winters when the area is snow bound.
