MP would soon be able to sell power: Union minister for power Piyush Goyal

INDORE: The Union government has promised to set up power plants across Madhya Pradesh through its public sector units, mainly National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
"NTPC has investments worth Rs 75,000 crore to power generation to the tune of 4760 MW across Madhya Pradesh," said Union minister for power Piyush Goyal at the concluding function of the Global Investors Summit, here on Friday.
"Two projects of 1320 MW at Gedarwar, one of 1320 MW at Thargaon and 2040 MW at Bareli are in the offing," said the minister that that if these projects get materilaised, the situation would be such that Madhya Pradesh would not have to buy power, instead it would be power surplus and be able to sell it to other states. With this, he added that the dream of Madhya Pradesh of ‘Make in India’ would get realized.
About the renewable energy the minister said that Rs 22,000 crore will be invested over time. "25 per cent of energy generated would be utilized for government projects in Madhya Pradesh," he added.
Touching upon the pet subject of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goyal said that 2477 toilets would be constructed in different government schools Madhya Pradesh under the CSR programme.
The power minister also offered chief minister Chouhan of Rs 100-150 crore CSR project in rural Madhya Pradesh. "I am glad to announce Rs 100 to 150 crore project under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the name of Nanaji Deshmukh, whose birth anniversary would be observed on October 11."
