NEW DELHI: The Centre said on Saturday that the vaccination drive conducted across 3,352 session sites covering all states and

Union territories

saw minor glitches in the cloud-based internet technology platform

Co-WIN

.

The problems related to issues such as delay in uploading of beneficiary lists at some session sites, whereas some who were vaccinated on the first day were not scheduled on the platform.

The

health ministry

said that the issues were resolved and the drive was conducted successfully on Day 1. “System performance of Co-WIN platform and speed was improved and is being further optimised,” Manohar Agnani, additional secretary in the health ministry, said.

For healthcare workers whose data has not been uploaded, states have been advised to improve the process and upload details.

“No major glitches were noticed. Almost all functions were smooth. We are constantly looking at the operations to ensure that the platform is ready to bear a major user-load that will be there once it opens up for others,” an official said.

While three crore health and front-line workers will be covered in the initial phase, the government aims to inoculate 30 crore ‘priority’ population, including those above 50 years age and those who are younger but with severe co-morbidities, in the next phase that is likely to be completed by July, depending on the availability of vaccines.

While Co-WIN was pre-populated with data of health and frontline workers, it will soon be launched for other beneficiaries who have to mandatorily regis-ter on the platform for vaccination. The software solution — which has emerged as the backbone of the immunisation drive — was rigorously tested during the two rounds of vaccination mock drills conducted by the government to ensure operational feasibility of use of Co-WIN in large-scale use.
