MiG 29k crashes off South Goa, pilot ejects safely

sortie crashed into the Arabian Sea. The naval frontline fighter jet took off from the naval aircraft carrier

INS Vikramaditya

but suffered a malfunction mid-air prompting the

pilot

to eject.


The pilot is safe and has been rescued by the local naval authorities at

INS Hansa

.

"The pilot ejected safely and has been recovered. An enquiry into the incident has been ordered," said defence chief PRO Mehul Karnik.

In November 2019, a trainer version of the MiG29k crashed about 30 km from Goa's capital after it encountered a flock of birds after take off from INS Hansa Air Base at

Dabolim Goa

.

According to Indian Navy, the pilot is under medical observation.

An enquiry has been instituted by the Indian Navy.
