MiG-29 crashes near Hoshiarpur

CHANDIGARH: A MiG-29 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Adampur in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district with the pilot bailing out safely.

CHANDIGARH: A MiG-29 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Adampur in Punjab''s Hoshiarpur district with the pilot bailing out safely.
The aircraft developed some snag during routine flying and crashed 25 km south-east of Adampur air-base at 1243 hours, an IAF spokesperson said adding the pilot Sqdrn-Ldr P J Mohammed bailed out to safety.

The MiG-29, which are the frontline aircraft of the force, have had a good safety record so far with only 2-3 crashes since their induction in late 1980s.
IAF has ordered a court of enquiry into the crash.
