MEIL to contribute Rs 200 crore to Telangana’s Young India Skills University

HYDERABAD: MEIL Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyderabad-based infra giant Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) has announced a contribution of Rs 200 crore for the Young India Skills University (YISU) in Hyderabad.

As part of this contribution, MEIL Foundation will sponsor the construction of academic, administrative, housing and other facilities at the varsity through its CSR initiative. MEIL Foundation will construct the academic block, administrative block, library and computer hub, workshops and laboratory block, student housing and faculty housing, guest faculty accommodation and VC as well as registrar residences.

The MEIL Foundation will also construct utilities such as generator, electrical space and parking as well as common dining area, food court, mini shopping galleria, a 700-seater auditorium, conference rooms and security and maintenance staff housing.

MEIL managing director PV Krishna Reddy signed a MoU with YISU vice chancellor VLVSS Subbarao in the presence of chief minister A Revanth Reddy, deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, industries & IT minister D Sridhar Babu, among other ministers.

The MEIL delegation led by Krishna Reddy also shared the company’s vision of supporting the youth through the ambitious skills university project that is being developed by Telangana government in partnership with corporates.

Mahindra Group top boss Anand Mahindra is the chairman of the varsity’s board. The varsity aims to offer advanced training in skills and entrepreneurship with an eye on equipping youth with the skills to earn their livelihood.

MEIL directors B Srinivas Reddy, CH Subbaiah, P Ravi Reddy, Doraiah Swami, N Tirupathi Rao and vice president Ramana Rao were also present at the MoU signing ceremony. Also present on the occasion were Telangana chief secretary Shanti Kumari and special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan,

CM Revanth Reddy had, in August this year, laid the foundation stone for the university on a sprawling 57-acre site at Mir Khan Peta in Kandukuru mandal, just outside Hyderabad.

At the meeting on Saturday, CM appreciated MEIL’s generous support and outlined the government’s plan to equip the university with advanced classrooms, residential facilities, and other amenities for students.

MEIL said through its commitment, MEIL Foundation is paving the way for a university that will uplift the youth, nurture skills, and build a generation ready to lead and innovate.

“This project is a meaningful step towards building a brighter, more self-sufficient future for India’s young talent,” MEIL said.
