NEW DELHI: Senior officials met on Tuesday to discuss the guidelines for foreign direct investment or FDI in the non-news and non-current affairs periodicals.
Convened by information secretary Pawan Chopra, the meeting was attended by representatives from the home and company affairs ministries.
The guidelines prepared by the I&B ministry have dealt with how to define a specialised journal.
The Cabinet decided a few months ago to open up the segment to FDI upto 74 per cent.
A committee will be set up to go into the question of ascertaining a publication’s claim of being a speciality journal.
The government proposes to secure an undertaking from the publishers to maintain the character of the journal by not deviating into other areas.
