KARIMNAGAR: A Naxalite and his wife, who held top positions in the CPI-Maoist, surrendered in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
They were active in Chhattisgarh since 2004, Superintendent of Police Devender Singh Chauhan said.
Dussa Gourishankar alias Prabhakar alias Vikram (36) was a district committee secretary of Manpur division of Chhattisgarh, and his wife Udutha Laxmi alias Shobha (27) was a central organiser of the Maoist group of Nadaneveeda of the same state, Chauhan said.

Gourishankar, who joined the PWG in 1989, worked in various groups in Andhra Pradesh before moving to Chhattisgarh in 2004 to carry out violent activities. He worked in North Bastar division and was involved in various offences including 15 shootouts, Chauhan alleged.
