Votes are being counted across four state assemblies, with leads shifting as rounds progress. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 seats outright and leading in 69 more, putting it well past the majority mark on current trends. The Congress-led alliance is trailing with a tally of 22, all in leads. Independent and other party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat assembly, no alliance has crossed that threshold yet. SPA holds a tally of 60, with 7 seats won and 53 leads. NDA has a tally of 55, all in leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 115, with 10 seats won and 105 leads, and need 3 more to reach the majority mark if those leads hold.
