NEW DELHI: A man on Wednesday tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire at Rail Bhawan roundabout in New Delhi. According to police, he has been taken to the RML hospital for treatment.

Cops have cordoned off the area and an investigation is under way. The police constables along with some civilians immediately extinguished the fire, said DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla.

The initial investigation revealed that the man, identified as Jitendra, was in trouble due to some case registered against him in UP's Baghpat. However, no suicide note has been found.


"Today a man named Jitendra, a resident of Baghpat in UP, tried to commit suicide at Rail Bhawan roundabout. The police constables along with some civilians immediately extinguished the fire. Investigation so far has revealed that he is in trouble due to some case registered against him in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. No suicide note has been found as of now. He has been sent to the hospital. Further investigation is underway," said DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla.
