Constable Uddhav Gadkar, 35, was taken into custody late Saturday after the woman filed a complaint. A court remanded him in police custody until March 12, officials said.

Inspector Somnath Jadhav of Patoda police station said: “The woman was allegedly raped around 11am. Later, she reached out to police and following due process, an FIR was registered.”

According to investigators, the woman had initially come into contact with Gadkar when she visited the police station with a domestic violence complaint.
