Madhya Pradesh Congress stalwarts Prajapati & Bhuria denied poll tickets

Congress's first list for MP polls comes nearly two months after BJP took the lead by announcing a lineup of 136 candidates so far since August 17, reports Suchandana Gupta. The grand old party has fielded actor Vikram Mastal, who played Hanuman in a 2008 TV series, against CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his stronghold of Budhni.

BHOPAL: Congress's first list for MP polls comes nearly two months after BJP took the lead by announcing a lineup of 136 candidates so far since August 17. The grand old party has fielded actor Vikram Mastal, who played Hanuman in a 2008 TV series, against CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his stronghold of Budhni. Factional quotas appear to have been ignored, although some of the top leaders had their way in a few seats despite predictions of internal surveys.

Two stalwarts - former Speaker NP Prajapati and former Union minister Kantilal Bhuria - have been dropped. Leader of the opposition Dr Govind Singh has been fielded at Lahar in Bhind district, while former BJP MP Bodh Singh Bhagat will contest the Katangi seat in Balaghat district.
In Indore-1, Congress to give ticket to MLA Sanjay Shukla against BJP's national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.
