PATNA: After biting dust in Barh, his home constituency, senior Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar on Friday admitted his "political defeat" but said he would not waste time repenting but will work with more vigour to win back people''s faith.

"There is no point repenting over the defeat in Barh.
I will work more vigoursly to win back the support of the people," Kumar said.

On the reason behind poor performance of NDA in Bihar and his defeat from Barh, he emphasised that rival''s "booth management" technique worked wonders for them.

"Of late, the RJD under the leadership of Laloo Prasad Yadav has developed expertise in booth management on the polling day and this is one of the reason for their sweeping the poll in Bihar," he said.

Kumar admitted that development could not become a poll issue in Bihar.

The RJD-led secular alliance in Bihar won 26 out of 37 parliamentary seats where counting were held on Thursday. The JD(U)-BJP combine could win only 11.

Kumar, who had won in Barh in 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998 and 1999, lost to RJD''s Vijay Krishna in Barh by over 35,000 votes but emerged victorious from Nalanda defeating his nearest LJP rival Pushpanjay Kumar by a margin of over one lakh.

"Jo jeeta so raj kare, jo hara so atma chintan kare (winners should rule and losers should self-introspect)," Kumar said reacting to the poll outcome.
