NEW DELHI: Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan on Thursday said the meeting held by his uncle Pashupati Paras-headed faction in Patna is "unconstitutional" and "lacked quorum".
Chirag Paswan said the party has urged
Election Commission to stop Paras-headed faction from using LJP symbol, flag in its meetings.
Earlier today, LJP MP Pashupati Kumar Paras, who recently staged a political coup and deposed nephew Chirag Paswan as the party chief, was on Thursday declared elected, unopposed, the new national president of the outfit, news agency PTI reported quoting sources.
"No other contender filed nomination papers till 3 pm and a formal announcement with regard to the election of the Hajipur MP will be made in the evening," PTI quoted sources as saying.
Meanwhile, LJP secretary-general Abdul Khaliq said national executive meet will be held in Delhi on Sunday to endorse Chirag Paswan's earlier election as president.
Chirag Paswan on Wednesday had blamed
Janata Dal (United) for engineering the split in his party. Paswan rejected the decisions taken by the faction headed by his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras, saying the party's constitution does not authorise them any such power.
