Members of CPI, CPM-M and MIM obstructed the Question Hour, prompting the Speaker KR Suresh Reddy to adjourn the House briefly.
HYDERABAD: The protests against the visit of United States President George W Bush found their echo in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Thursday with Left parties and Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) stalling the proceedings pressing for taking up their adjournment motion on the issue. Raising slogans of "Bush go back" and waving placards, the members of CPI, CPM-M and MIM obstructed the Question Hour for over fifteen minutes, prompting the Speaker KR Suresh Reddy to adjourn the House briefly.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, the opposition members sprang to their feet insisting on a discussion on the adjournment motion moved by them on the issue. Disallowing the adjournment motion, the Speaker said the matter was not under the purview of the Assembly. Amid furore marked by opposition members rushing to the well, the speaker adjourned the house for ten minutes and asked the floor leaders of CPI, CPI-M and MIM to come to his chambers to sort out the matter.
