Chennai train collision Live updates: An express train collided with a stationary goods train at Kavarapettai in Tamil Nadu, resulting in the derailment of six coaches and injuries to a few passengers, according to railway officials. The incident occurred after the Bagmati Express train crossed Ponneri station at 20.27 hours and the crew experienced a "heavy jerk" before the train entered the loopline and collided with the goods train.Kavarapettai is located near Chennai in Tiruvallur district. While there were no reported casualties, a medical relief van and a rescue team were dispatched from Chennai Central to assist the injured passengers.Police reported that a fire broke out quickly near a coach, but railway officials did not confirm this information. Rescue teams and ambulances have been deployed to the accident site to provide assistance.Tiruvallur district collector T Prabhushankar, along with senior state officials and the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Chennai, Southern Railway, are currently en route to the location of the accident to assess the situation and coordinate relief efforts.
