KALIMPONG: Maninderpal SinghKohli, the man nabbed on Thursday after a hunt of more than a year by theBritish and Indian police, for the rape-murder of English teenager HannahFoster, was produced before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate here onFriday. He was remanded to jail till July 29.
According to PramodKumar Roy, assistant public prosecutor, Kohli had no lawyer to appear for him,or move a bail petition. The police, however, let off Bharati Das, the localgirl Kohli had lately married.
Three officials from the Patialapolice arrived here. "We applied for a transit remand soon after the arrest,"said Pritpal Singh Virk, SP, Patiala. According to police, the Punjab Police hadalso filed a passport fraud case against Kohli.
