"the most urgent need for our people at this moment is to recognise and understand our history and to heal the wounds of the past and to learn to forgive and be forgiven", it said. the launching of this reconciliation process was initiated by naga hoho co-ordination committee to "heal and rebuild the naga family with peace", where leaders of both underground organisations and overground political parties spoke from the same platform. hundreds of nagas representing over 30 tribes from nagaland, manipur, assam, arunachal pradesh and neighbouring myanmar attended the congregation, which has been described as the greatest-ever effort made by churches and apex trixal council naga hoho to bring about unity and understanding in the deeply divided naga society.
