srinagar: one of the constituents of the hurriyat conference,the separatist kashmir mass movement, on monday gave a call to the people in the valley to celebrate pakistan's independence day tuesday and observe august 15 as a black day. the outfit, which is headed by fareeda jan, sister of bilal beig (chief of jammu kashmir islamic front), said the people should hoist pakistani flags tuesday and observe a black day on the indian independence day.
however, founding father of jklf and hijacker of indian airlines plane in 1971, hashim qureshi, appealed to centre and pakistan to "free both parts of the state" as it would ensure "peace and development in the sub-continent and forge unity" between the two countries. congratulating new delhi and islamabad on the occasion, qureshi said withdrawal of troops from both sides of the state would also be beneficial for development and progress and removal of centuries-old poverty in the sub-continent. hurriyat conference has already given a call for a general strike on august 15.
