NEW DELHI: Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday said
Operation Sindoor is still ongoing, with the armed forces closely monitoring every move of the enemy, underlining India’s continued operational alertness following recent military action.
Speaking at an investiture ceremony at the South Western Command in Jaipur, General Dwivedi said the
Indian Army, Navy and Air Force jointly carried out precision strikes on nine terrorist camps and infrastructure in Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
The coordinated operation was executed in just 22 minutes, reflecting the armed forces’ high level of joint preparedness and operational capability.
“Operation Sindoor is still ongoing, and we are keeping a close watch on every move of the enemy,” the Army chief said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
Referring to the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, he said a clear decision was taken at the highest level that India would respond decisively.
“Operation Sindoor was the result of this resolve. Within 88 hours, our precision, professionalism and operational superiority forced Pakistan to agree to a ceasefire,” he said, calling it a clear demonstration of the Indian Army’s ability to uphold national sovereignty and national interests.
General Dwivedi also said terrorist recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir is currently at its lowest, while the overall security situation has shown clear improvement in the Northeast, particularly in Manipur.
He added that India’s deployment along the Line of Actual Control remains balanced and robust, ensuring preparedness across all fronts.
Highlighting broader strategic lessons, the Army chief said global armed conflicts show that only well-prepared nations succeed, stressing the importance of sustained military readiness.
Separately, while addressing another event, General Dwivedi underlined the Army’s efforts to integrate veterans into national security and planning, noting that ex-servicemen played an important role in strategic brainstorming and operational planning during Operation Sindoor, reported PTI.
He also reiterated that while economic strength drives growth, military strength ultimately forms the foundation of a nation’s outcomes.
