CHENNAI: In a startling allegation, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has charged her bete noire and DMK president M Karunanidhi with having a possible link with forest brigand Veerappan and the abduction last Sunday of former Karnataka Minister H Nagappa.
In a one-page statement issued late on Friday, Jayalalithaa not only raised doubts about Karunanidhi and former PWD minister Durai Murugan ‘resting’ in Bangalore between August 6 and 10 but noted Nagappa’s abduction had taken place after their return.
‘‘It should be carefully noted that Durai Murugan and Veerappan come from the same caste and that Nagappa’s abduction took place after Karunanidhi and Durai Murugan’s trip to Bangalore,’’ she said.
She noted Karunanidhi had left for Goa on Friday, accompanied again by Murugan, and alleged they had first planned to go back to Bangalore, but had changed their plans.
