Karnataka’s Muslim quota bill: BJP says Congress on ‘contract jihad’
NEW DELHI: BJP on Friday pinned the decision of the Congress govt in Karnataka to reserve 4% of all public contracts for Muslims on Rahul Gandhi, and said the “contract jihad”, meant to appease the minority community, would hurt the interests of OBCs, SCs and STs. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed it was Rahul who pushed the state govt to implement the latest instance of “appeasement politics”, dubbing the leader of opposition “Alamgir Rahul Zeb”, in a play on the controversial Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. “Congress govt’s decision in Karnataka is only a beginning and will create divide in the country,” Patra said, adding the opposition party could give even 100% quota to the minority community in pursuit of its appeasement politics. He said the Siddaramaiah govt has been taking a host of measures aimed at Muslims.
