NEW DELHI: The Bhartiya Janata Party on Monday issued a show-cause notice to senior Karnataka MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal for his public remarks against the party's state leadership and his defiance of party directives.

The notice accuses Yatnal of "continuing tirade" against state-level leadership.

The issued notice said, "Your continuing tirade against the state-level party leadership and your defiance of party directives and making public pronouncements and stance in contravention of party's official stand on all matters of political and public importance has been reported in media as well as by different party forums."

"It is also a matter of great concern that despite having been issued a show cause notice several times in the past and your assurances of good conduct, the acts of indiscipline continue unabated," it added.

Responding to the notice, Yatnal reiterated his commitment to his cause in a tweet. "I will respond to the notice issued by the BJP Disciplinary Committee Chairman, while also presenting the facts regarding the current state of the BJP in Karnataka. My commitment to the fight for Hindutva, opposition to corruption, Waqf-related issues, and dynasty politics will remain unwavering," he posted.

The disciplinary action by the party came after Yatnal's launch of a controversial month-long 'anti-Waqf' march, which began on November 25 in North Karnataka's Bidar, and is set to conclude on December 25 in Chamarajanagar in the southern part of the state.
