BENGALURU: Karnataka's minister for women and child welfare Umashree announced Rs 3,000 pension per month for women, who will be the victims of acid attacks.

This pension facility will be provided for acid attack victims till the end of their life. The minister announced new initiatives taken up by the state government, during a seminar on 'Anganwadis - Partnerships and Opportunities', organised by an NGO here on Wednesday.

Umashree said the government will pay the medical fee of poor acid attack victims undergoing treatment in private hospitals upto Rs 20 lakh. On new initiatives taken for sexual abuse of girl children, she said "Rs one lakh compensation will be given to the family members of children, who die due to sexual abuse."
