The Court observed that as on date the materials collected by the prosecution against the applicant were not sufficient. "However, the apprehension still remained and hence I am granting anticipatory bail," the Judge said.
When the petition came up for hearing, Public Prosecutor, K Doraisamy, submitted that the investigations upto the current stage did not connect the Sankaracharya with the crime.
Following this submission, the judge granted the bail. The Sankaracharya had moved the High Court on February 1 seeking the anticipatory bail.
The case relates to the alleged missing of certain pages and fabrication in the ledger book of the mutt.
Former mutt manager Sundaresa Iyer and accountant Kaladi Viswanathan had been arrested in the case.
