Kamal Nath directs Jabalpur collector to end school principal’s suspension
BHOPAL: Chief minister Kamal Nath on Saturday directed
“I just came to know that a Jabalpur school teacher has been suspended by the district administration after a video clipping showed him calling be a dacoit. I believe that in a democracy, everyone has the right to free speech and expression and I have always been an advocate for it,” the chief minister said in a statement. “It maybe a violation of rules for a teacher in a government job to make such a statement. That is the reason why he was suspended. But I want to pardon him.”
Mukesh Tiwari, principal of the government-run Kanishtha Buniyadi Middle School had made derogatory remarks against the chief minister which addressing a function in the school. The video went viral and Tiwari was suspended on Thursday.
Kamal Nath in a statement on Saturday said that it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to become a teacher. “I thought about how many years of commitment and toil it took for him to reach till here. And he also has a family. His suspension would mean that his family would undergo hardships for a statement he made against me. That I would not like and therefore, personally don’t want any action against him,” the chief minister said.
The chief minister on Saturday directed district administration Jabalpur to end all proceedings of Mukesh Tiwari’s suspension with immediate effect.
“A teacher’s duty is to construct society and impart good education to students. I expect Mukesh Tiwari in future to keep his responsibilities and duties in mind,” the chief minister said. He also added, “We will not work to avenge what happened in the past 15 years. I want to assure that this government will not work to avenge or to harass.”
