<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">NEW DELHI: Eminent scientist A P J Abdul Kalam was on Monday emerging as NDA''s candidate for the office of the President in the absence of a consensus over the name of Maharashtra Governor P C Alexander, who appeared to have been the first choice.<br />Highly placed NDA sources said the name of Kalam, who is regarded as the father of Indian missile technology, would be considered at a meeting of the ruling alliance later this evening.
