GUWAHATI:
Assam Police
, with help from its Jammu & Kashmir counterpart, arrested a man for allegedly passing obscene comment about the widow of
CRPF jawan Sunil Kalita, who was martyred in the terrorist attack in Jharkhand recently.
Following directives from Chief Minister
Sarbananda Sonowal, the crime branch of
Assam Police has taken Mohammad Abbas Bhat alias Syed Abbass into eight-day transit remand and is bringing him to Guwahati.
Abbass had made discourteous comment on Kalita's widow on a

In view of this, one Ramen Barua lodged an FIR with Kamalpur police station on June 15. A case was registered and the officer in-charge of Kamalpur police station, inspector Mrinal Das was directed to lead a three-member team to Jammu and Kashmir.
The team left for Kashmir on June 17 and the accused was arrested with assistance from Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Central and state intelligence agencies.
"The accused was produced at Damhal Hanji Pora Court in Kulgam district on June 22 and sent to eight-day transit remand to Assam Police team," the chief minister's office said.
