J&K bureaucrat's attackers killed

JAMMU: After 24 hours of the attack on a top bureaucrat in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces achieved a major success in killing the two assailants of him in Mahamaya forests on the outskirts of Jammu on Monday.

JAMMU: After 24 hours of the attack on a top bureaucrat in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces achieved a major success in killing the two assailants of him in Mahamaya forests on the outskirts of Jammu on Monday.
Police said one militant was killed on Sunday evening and the second was shot dead when the operation to flush out the
militants was resumed on Monday morning.

Sources said that the slain militants were not in police uniform.
The uniform, however, was found in their bags which also contained juice bottles. Two AK rifles, two pistols and grenades were also recovered from them.
Their identification has not been ascertained yet and the police said that both were suspected to have crossed the border to target some top officials.
On Sunday, militants had fired at the official car of K B Pillai, Director General Institute of Management and Public Administration. He and his security guard were injured in the shootout. The terrorists had fled into the nearby Mahamaya forests.
In the subsequent encounter between the militants and security forces, one police man was killed and several others injured. The operation was suspended after the sun set. It was resumed on Monday morning.
