JCO killed in Pak firing along LoC in Rajouri

JAMMU: A junior commissioned officer (JCO) died on Monday in Pakistani firing along the

Line

of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s

Rajouri

district even as Pakistani troops also initiated

unprovoked ceasefire violation

along the LoC in

Degwar

sector of Poonch.

This was the second ceasefire violation by Pakistan in a day.

The JCO, whose identity was yet to be revealed by the Army, was critically injured when Pakistan breached the truce in Babakhori area of

Nowshera

. “The injured was immediately evacuated to the nearby hospital but he succumbed due to grievous injuries,” a

defence source

said. No official statement was issued till the time of going to press.

In Poonch, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation around 8pm by firing with small arms and shelling with Mortars along LoC in Degwar sector. “Indian Army retaliated befittingly,” a Jammu-based defence spokesperson said.

Pakistan has breached the truce over 3,000 times along the LoC and international border in Jammu and Kashmir this year so far.
