“A police team from Bus Stand police station led by the SHO arrested a couple — Showqat Ali and his wife Salima Biwi — residents of Jand village in Amritsar district of Punjab and recovered 2kg heroin from them,” police said.

Police registered an FIR against the couple under Sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act and arrested them. They are questioning the accused to determine the origin of the drugs and the supply chain.

Jammu police appealed to people to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption by dialling police on “100” and assured them that their identities would be kept confidential.
