NEW DELHI: Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 21 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Odisha state. It comprises of part of Cuttack and Puri district and entire Jagatsinghpur district.
The constituency is reseved for the SC category and consist of seven assembly seats which are Niali (SC), Paradeep ,Tirtol (SC), Balikuda-Ersama, Jagatsinghpur, Kakatpur (SC), Nimapara.
The literacy rate of the constituency is 77.36%.
In 2019, BJD candidate Rajashree Mallick won the 2019 General Election with a victory margin of 2,71,655 votes, securing 6,19,985 votes. Rajashree Mallick defeated Bibhu Prasad Tarai of the BJP, who got 3,48,330 votes. The constituency witnessed a significant voter turnout of 74.61% in 2019.
The date of voting for the Jagatsinghpur constituency of Odisha is June 1 (Phase 7) and the result will be announced on June 04.
BJP has fielded Bibhu Prasad Tarai for the upcoming elections from this seat while Congress has fielded Rabindra Sethy. BJD has given ticket to Rajashree Mallick from this constituency.
