NEW DELHI:
BJP on Friday slammed RJD supremo
Lalu Prasad Yadav for his "undignified" jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his
Bihar visit, saying the remarks only show how "rattled" he has become.
The remarks came after the former Bihar chief minister mocked PM Modi ahead of his visit, claiming he had come to perform the "Pind Daan" of current CM Nitish Kumar's politics in the state.
Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain slammed the RJD chief asserting that it is the Mahagathbandhan that will face a political "pind-daan" in the upcoming elections.
"Lalu Yadav is giving an undignified statement. It shows how rattled he is. When PM Modi visits Bihar, all the leaders of the Mahagathbandhan tremble. To say that the PM is coming for 'pind-dann' is unfortunate. This time, people of Bihar will do 'pind-daan' of Mahagathbandhan as NDA will win more than 200 seats," the BJP leader told ANI.
Earlier in the day, Yadav shared a video on X accusing PM Modi of "vote theft" and said, "Prime Minister Modi ji is coming to Gaya today to perform the Pind Daan (a post-death ritual) of Nitish Kumar's politics and his party."
Along with the jibe, he also demanded action against alleged vote rigging, rising crime, and unemployment in Bihar.
Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan also condemned the remark.
He said, "This is wrong. What kind of language is this? You raise questions about the policies; you are making SIR an issue, which is fine. But to say "Pind Daan" and use such language against the Chief Minister, I condemn this."
This comes as Gaya in Bihar, known as a sacred site where Hindus perform ‘Pind Daan’ rituals for their ancestors, was the focus of PM Modi's visit on Friday.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth Rs 12,000 crore, and offered prayers at the Vishnupad Temple, calling Gaya the "sacred city of knowledge and liberation."
