SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday expressed his displeasure over the way he was invited for an event marking the death anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, organised by Shimla municipal corporation.

Shukla said he did not attend the event since due courtesy was not accorded to him as the first citizen of the state while extending the invite.

"Neither the mayor nor any other official contacted me regarding the programme. Last time, on the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, I went on my own. This time also, I would have gone, but a simple invitation card was sent, as is given to any common person, which mentioned chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as the chief guest. Now you tell me, how could I go in such a situation?" he told media persons.

Shukla said he decided to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar at Raj Bhawan. CM Sukhu offered floral tribute at a function that was attended by health minister Dhani Ram Shandil, and Shimla mayor Surender Chauhan, among other dignitaries.
