Two sailors have died in the incident. 14 others have been rescued with minor injuries.

Navy

chief Admiral Sunil Lanba has left for Mumbai to take stock of the accident.

The probable cause of the incident was a failure of the dock blocks mechanism, Navy spokesperson

DK Sharma

said.

The extent of the damage done to the vessel is being assessed.

INS Betwa, a 3,850 tonne, 126-metre-long Brahmaputra-class guided missile frigate, was commissioned into the Navy in 2004. It's packed with missiles, weapons and sensors.
