Rs 60 lakh penalty has also been imposed on Mumbai airport operator MIAL over the incident.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) had served notices to IndiGo and Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) concerning the incident where passengers of a diverted flight were seated on the tarmac and provided refreshments there. The IndiGo flight 6E2195 from Goa to Delhi, diverted to Mumbai on January 14 due to low visibility in Delhi, became the center of controversy.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that the reply to the show-cause notice was received on January 17 and was not found satisfactory as the response submitted by MIAL shows that they have failed to adhere to the safety requirements.

The notices criticized IndiGo and MIAL for their lack of proactive measures in handling the situation and facilitating passenger comfort at the airport. The aircraft was assigned to a remote bay (C-33) instead of a contact stand, further complicating the situation by limiting passengers' access to basic amenities like restrooms and refreshments at the terminal.

A senior ministry official described the incident as an "unfavourable and unacceptable experience for the tired and harassed passengers," criticizing the flight operation for disregarding passenger convenience, security norms, and operational issues.

DGCA has also imposed a penalty of Rs 30 lakh each on Air India and SpiceJet for failing to comply with instructions regarding rostering of pilots issued to airline operators.

Air India and SpiceJet were sent notices for not ensuring that only pilots trained to land in Delhi's dense fog operated flights in the past few days during low visibility hours, leading to a large number of diversions.

Looking to comment section it is very evident that how hypocrite and arrogant the Lytent class of India is...Just 2 days before I saw a news on passenger hitting a Pilot and steps taken against the incident. Most of this same commentator justified the violence and questioned why DGCA not taking step against airlines.Today when steps were taken against the airlines, the same commentators again started shouting this fine will passed on passenger. Now what will DGCA do? Start cancelling the license of Airlines? Arrest the official for fog related delays or parking a unscheduled flight to remote tarmac and providing food there. The big joke is most of this commentators are businessman or Corporate personalities who regularly handel same situation and in most of the cases when these people needs to deal such situation and take decision they deliver a more raw deal to its customer but always ready to critize others.Any wise and sensible person should understand how complex and critical situation become when hundreds of flight are deleyed and cancelled. Even Terminals get full. In such situation harsh measures are taken and inconvenience are caused. Many mistake happens also happen and many time inadequate steps are taken. That doesn't mean we will resort to violence and support it. I understand many of the commentators here are Modi haters and some time members of anti BJP Propaganda cell. But bringing a PM of the country to every issue is not Joke. Calling country 3rd World Country and mocking whole country is in gutter is not also great.10 years ago there was 74 airports and today we have around 148 airports. There was around 1500 flights in 2014 and today's approx 3000 flights a day. It's to sensitive and complex to accomplish this. But India has achieved it.Before speaking rubbish and spitting venom on country first have some basic knowledge.Visit USA or Europe you will face more harsh hospitality in such extreme weather situation. Respect Situation, respect ur country.
