Indian embassy in Russia issues advisory for nationals

The Embassy of India in Russia has issued an advisory for Indian nationals residing in the Bryansk, Belgorod, and Kursk regions.

According to the advisory, Indian citizens should stay vigilant due to the ongoing situational developments in these areas. The advisory did not specify particular threats but urged individuals to take necessary precautions. ""In view of the recent security incidents in Bryansk, Belgorod and Kursk regions, Indian nationals are advised to take necessary precautions and temporarily relocate outside these regions, " the advisory reads.

"Any Indian national or student requiring any assistance may contact the Embassy at edu1.moscow@mea.gov.in or +7 9652773414," it added.

This came after Ukraine said that its forces had made significant advances into Russia's Kursk region, marking the largest foreign incursion into Russia since World War II.

Russia's defense ministry reported that overnight, 117 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and shot down within its territory, primarily in the Kursk, Voronezh, Belgorod, and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

The ministry also said that missiles had been downed and released footage of Sukhoi Su-34 bombers targeting Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region.

Later, the ministry reported that Russian forces had successfully repelled a series of Ukrainian attacks in the Kursk region, including near Russkoye Porechnoye, located 18 km (11 miles) from the border. Pro-Russian war bloggers indicated that the frontlines have stabilized.
