NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that he received a phone call from his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, who apprised him of the ongoing situation in Israel.

Thanking Netanyahu for giving an update on the situation, PM Modi said that people of India stand firmly with Israel in this difficult hour.

"India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," PM Modi said on X.


Earlier, reacting to the unprecedented multi-front attack carried out by Hamas on Israeli cities last Saturday, PM Modi had said that he was "deeply shocked" by the news,

"Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour," Modi had tweeted.


There are about 18,000 Indian nationals living and working in Israel and so far there have been no untoward incidents reported involving them.

The Indian mission in Tel Aviv and the Representative Office of India in Palestine on Saturday issued advisories asking Indian nationals on respective sides to “remain vigilant” and “directly contact the Office” in case of an emergency.
