India-China border dispute live updates: China says it hopes for disengagement as soon as possible, cites 'harsh winter'
The PLA late on Monday night accused Indian troops of crossing the LAC and firing shots to deter Chinese patrol guards in the Pangong area. The Indian Army in its response today, has said that at no stage has it transgressed across the LAC or resorted to use of any aggressive means. Stay here for all live updates

Chinese soldiers are armed with stick-machetes during their deployment along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh sector amid the ongoing border tension between India and China.According to Army sources on the pictures which have emerged, Chinese soldiers can be seen with stick machetes even with their rifles slung on their back.

As tension escalated at the Line of Actual Control(LAC), the sources said around 50-60 soldiers of Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) approached the Indian post in the southern bank of Pangon lake area at around 6pm but the Indian Army personnel posted there strongly confronted them, forcing their retreat.

The Army on Tuesday said Chinese troops fired shots in the air and attempted to close in on an Indian position in eastern Ladakh a day earlier as it rejected charges by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) that it transgressed across the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The remarks by the Army came after the PLA late on Monday night alleged that the Indian troops crossed the LAC and "outrageously fired" warning shots near the Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh.
