CM flags off major international event
In Kashmir's inaugural international marathon, J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah flagged off the event, which attracted thousands of participants. After taking part in the event, the CM expressed his aspirations for the marathon to "become one of the world's premier events."

CM takes 21 km run
Along with other participants, he accomplished a half marathon, showcasing his physical fitness. Thrilled to have run 21 km, the chief minister said, “I’ve never run more than 13 km in my life. Today, I completed the half marathon, and I’m proud of it. I congratulate the athletes, everyone involved in the event, and the people of Srinagar for their support.”

Thousands participate in first international marathon
For the first time, Kashmir is hosting a large-scale international marathon, featuring 2,000 athletes, including 59 from abroad. Participants competed in a full marathon covering 42 kilometers and a half marathon of 21 kilometers.

Gulmarg run
In addition to competing in the marathon, the athletes will be treated to local cuisine and will have the opportunity to visit the renowned Gulmarg ski resort, where they can enjoy a cable car ride.

Athletes have been soaking in the beauty of Kashmir, exploring its pristine lakes, alpine forests, and the breathtaking autumn season, often referred to as the king of the four seasons in the region.
Previous international event
The last major international event hosted in Kashmir was the G20 meeting in May, along with a sports car racing event. These international gatherings have contributed to a significant influx of tourists, owing to the perception of the Valley as a peaceful and safe destination.
