In Pics— PM Modi in Purnea: Big projects, bold promises ahead of Bihar polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Purnea, Bihar, months before the Assembly polls, where he addressed a massive rally and launched development projects worth Rs 36,000 crore.

PM Modi arrived at a vibrant welcome with cultural performances and traditional dances, joined by CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy CMs, and Union ministers.

BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal felicitated PM Modi with a garland made of makhana, symbolising Bihar’s traditional pride.

The Prime Minister flagged off the first IndiGo flight from Purnea airport, built at nearly Rs 40,000 crore, marking the district’s aviation debut.

PM Modi inaugurated the Araria–Galgalia–Thakurganj rail line worth Rs 4,410 crore and flagged off new Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains.

He laid the foundations for a Rs 25,000 crore thermal power project in Bhagalpur, the Kosi–Mechi river link project, and other key water and energy schemes.

The PM handed over keys to PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries, launched housing projects worth Rs 603 crore, and announced a National Makhana Board for farmers.

Taking a jibe at RJD and Congress, PM Modi said, “For them, family comes first. For Modi, you are my family.”

The Prime Minister announced new GST cuts to make stationery, clothes, and shoes cheaper, simplifying the structure to two main slabs.

PM Modi assured strict action against infiltrators and praised women of Bihar for their role in keeping RJD out of power. PM Modi hailed women’s empowerment, saying Bihar’s women are now transforming into “Lakhpati Didis” and “Drone Didis.”

PM Modi accused RJD-Congress of corruption and even of insulting Bihar by comparing it to a beedi on social media. CM Nitish Kumar vowed to remain with NDA, admitting alliances with RJD-Congress “always ended in mischief,” drawing applause from PM Modi.
