Additionally, senior Scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar said that heavy rainfall will lash Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh today, with light showers expected in Delhi soon.

"We are expecting above-normal temperatures as we are approaching April. In April, we will experience heat wave conditions over the central part of the country. May is the warmest month of the seasons and the country may experience heat waves over northwest and central India. As per our long-term predictions, there will be abnormal temperatures and heat wave conditions may prevail over the central part of the country for the next two-three months," said Kumar.

An active Western disturbance is expected to impact Northwest India starting today causing heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and adjacent areas, with light to moderate rain and possible thunderstorm and hailstorm.

The temperatures in northwest India are currently abnormal, however the influence of Western disturbances is likely to bring a gradual decrease in temperature. Despite this, temperatures above 35°C are anticipated in the region due to the summer season.

Heat wave conditions are prevalent in Maharashtra and neighboring regions, with Madhya Pradesh experiencing the same for the next two days.
