IAF keeps 20 aircraft ready to step up relief, rescue operations in flood-hit Gujarat

NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force is all set to step up relief and rescue operations in Gujarat on Wednesday, with the weather department predicting no relief from rain in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The headquarters of the

South Western Air Command

has issued directions to its bases to keep over 20 aircraft in a state of readiness to launch flood relief and rescue operations.

Arrangements have also been made to further bolster the numbers if there is a need.

Incessant rain has resulted in an increase in the number of requests from the state government for aerial evacuations.

The

IAF

is also leaving no stone unturned to provide humanitarian assistance with all the resources at its disposal.
