I respect Sonia, but she can't be PM: Varun

MUMBAI: Sonia Gandhi’s foreign origin will certainly be an issue before the electorate, but only one of the issues, Varun Gandhi, son of Maneka and Sanjay Gandhi who recently joined the BJP, said on Friday.
“The other issues include better governance and faster progress of the country,’’ he said in a telephonic interview.
“I respect her, but the feelings of one billion Indians should also be respected,’’ said Varun,who will address a BJP workers’ meeting in the city on Saturday.
He declined to comment on Pramod Mahajan’s statement that Priyanka and Rahul were not qualified to become PM because of their mother’s foreign origin.
“I would not like to say anything about my cousins, but I welcome the induction of young blood.�
