'I am ready to ... ': What Siddaramaiah said after Karnataka court ordered probe in Muda 'scam'

NEW DELHI: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday again reiterated that he is ready to face investigation in the alleged Muda scam case, and that he is "determined to face everything." Siddaramaiah's comments came hours after a special court for elected representatives directed the Mysuru Lokayukta Police to investigate the Karnataka CM, his wife BM Parvathi, and others in connection with the scam.

"It has come to my attention through the media that the Special Court for Elected Representatives has ordered an investigation by the Mysuru Lokayukta.," the Karnataka CM said in a post on X.



On Tuesday, Karnataka high court had dismissed a petition filed by Siddaramaiah challenging the governor's approval for an investigation against him in a site allotment case.

Following the dismissal by the high court, the Karnataka CM had accused the BJP-led NDA and its ally JD(S) of orchestrating difficulties for him. He saying, "Our judicial struggle against this 'revenge politics' of BJP and the JD(S) will continue. I have faith in the judiciary."

The chief minister had further added, "I will not hesitate from facing investigation. I will consult experts whether such a probe is allowed under law or not."

During a press conference, CM Siddaramaiah expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (Secular) would not succeed in their attempts to destabilize the Congress government. He said, "They might have succeeded in the past, but not this time. It is not a prosecution. I will discuss with legal experts & ministers how to fight this, and take a further call. We will not be scared of BJP and JD(S) conspiracy, as well as that of the Governor's office. People have blessed us. I have their blessing. I also have the high command and party leaders backing me."

The controversy surronds the alleged improper allocation of compensatory sites to Siddaramaiah's wife, BM Parvathi, by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The sites in question are located in a prime area of Mysuru and reportedly have a higher property value compared to the original land acquired by MUDA.

According to the allegations, MUDA allocated plots to Parvathi under a 50:50 ratio scheme in exchange for 3.16 acres of land, which was intended to be developed into a residential layout. However, it is claimed that Parvathi did not possess legal title to the 3.16-acre parcel of land, which is situated in survey number 464 of Kasare village, Kasaba hobli, Mysuru taluk.
