From gender tests for women to looking at citizenship, Sohini Chattopadhyay’s ‘The Day I Became A Runner’ tells a bigger story through the lens of sport

Sohini Chattopadhyay is a writer, journalist and a national award-winning film critic with more than 15 years of experience. Her book, The Day I Became A Runner, crafts a woman's history of India from the late 1930s to the current through the lives of nine women athletes.

She won the New India Foundation fellowship for this project.
